Project description

Steel fiber reinforced concrete was used for the foundation slab of a new residential and office building in Cologne.

Optimisation with SFRC
  • Accelerated construction process through the use of steel fiber reinforced concrete
  • Optimized slab thickness, reduced by 20–40 cm compared to the original design
  • A key economic advantage was achieved by lowering the cost of the secant pile wall, thanks to the reduced slab thickness
  • Reinforcement for crack width control was reduced by more than half → resulting in efficient execution and cost savings
