In Madrid, Spain, the Mahou Cervezas brewery underwent a major expansion. Unlike conventional warehouse structures, the racking system not only supports the stored goods but also carries the entire building envelope. This makes the floor slab a critical structural element. It must be quasi-rigid and comply with extremely tight rotational limits. The warehouse is fully integrated with advanced automation technologies.

Beiersdorf AG has officially launched the construction of its new, state-of-the-art logistics center in the northern part of Leipzig. The company is investing over 200 million euros in the project. Completion and commissioning are scheduled for 2027, while ca. 450 new jobs will be created at the new site.

The three floor slabs of the flat warehouses must be constructed to be impermeable and resistant to substances. They are to be designed as FD concrete with a pre-verified sealing performance in accordance with the DAfStb guideline “Concrete structures for handling water-polluting substances.

The multifunctional building VINZENT, with its lush green façade, stands as a clear statement of sustainability. For this project, steel fiber reinforced concrete was used in the foundation slab of Munich’s first timber hybrid building located in the heart of the city.

Another expansion of the large Zeiss campus in Oberkochen was carried out under the project name Zeiss Norditalien. As with the previously constructed production halls for semiconductor products, massive, jointless foundation slabs with a thickness of 1.50 meters were used. The implementation—consistent with earlier foundation slabs—featured hybrid reinforcement, ensuring that the efficient construction method was continued seamlessly in these new building phases.

In Sondershausen, a foundation slab was constructed in combined reinforcement. The foundation slab is divided into 3 areas: HRL, AKL and Shuttle. For each area, the deformations in the SLS (Serviceability Limit State) should be limited. For example, the angle of twist in the HRL area must not exceed α = 0.5 mrad at any point of the floor slab. The maximum permissible local vertical deformation up to a length of 3 m is limited to 1/2.500.
The exact rotation determination was carried out using non-linear calculation methodology.

Steel fibre reinforced concrete and combined reinforcement for 10 buildings of the Paulaner brewery in Munich. The site is 15 hectares in size with over 90,000 m² gross floor area. The slab thicknesses for floors, foundation slabs and top concrete sections of 20 - 160 cm resulted from a wide variety of requirements. For example, very high point loads from tanks and silos of 600 kN and high live loads in the production areas of 40 kN/m² had to be verified. The area where steel fibre reinforced concrete was used totalled approx. 40,000 m².

The designed tank is used for the storage of 20,000 m³ of water-polluting substances and was classified as a "LAU" facility according to VAwS. The retention in the sense of a secondary barrier was designed and constructed as an uncoated impermeable surface in accordance with DAfStb guideline BUmwS as a circumferential combined reinforced concrete containment space.

In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a large distribution centre was built in 2013 for the beverage manufacturer Pepsi. The realised Clad-Rack warehouse of 42.90 metres is one of the tallest racking systems possible. Due to the silo construction, the foundation slab not only experiences high vertical loads due to the storage of beverages, but also very high uplift loads due to the consideration of "earthquake with partial loading" and "maximum wind with empty racking".
