Project description

Steel fiber reinforced concrete was used for the foundation slab of a new residential building with retail spaces on Rödernallee in Berlin.

Optimisation with SFRC
  • Accelerated construction process through the use of steel fiber reinforced concrete
  • Optimized standard slab thickness, reduced by 10 cm, and up to 20 cm for the 36 haunches, compared to the original design
  • A significant economic advantage was achieved by lowering concrete costs due to the reduced slab thickness
  • Crack width control reinforcement was reduced by more than half → enabling efficient execution and delivering a cost benefit
